Carmen Mainelli of Reaction Photography has been drawn to photography ever since she was a child.  Having a grandmother who had a wedding reception hall, she was always around the hustle and bustle of weddings and was provided disposable cameras to entertain herself.  It wasn’t until college that she actually took her first photography course and that was it.  Photography had entered her bloodstream and she became addicted to it.  In 2003 Reaction Photography was born!  Since starting Reaction Photography she has been published in Dreamy magazine, Faddy Italian magazine, Lyun Fashion, Elegant, Edith and Vertiqle magazine and also won 2019 best local business in Omaha, best fashion and boudoir photographer 2019 and top 5 newborn photographers in Omaha 2019.   

Her approach to photography is to capture the moments that transform and define our lives.  She offers an optimistic enthusiasm that is both contagious and comforting, bringing the reactionary joy and personality of her subjects into her photography, and serving as a poetic storyteller for magical events. She’s a mother herself, so she’s good at wrangling kids and also understands the challenges that come along with picture day.  Each time she takes a photo, she’s thinking about how you’re going to look at it decades later.  Her work has a timeless and real feeling with a little something else you can’t quiet put your finger on.

Trained at UNO, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in fine art photography and also Metro Community College, graduating with a degree in still photography.
