Highland Cow Mini Sessions in Omaha: Where Art, Personality & Photography Meet
Some photo sessions are beautiful. And then there are the sessions that somehow capture exactly who someone is in this little moment of their life.
This was definitely one of those.
My son has always had a huge love for anything creative—drawing, painting, performing, making people laugh, and generally doing things his own way. So when I was planning his photos during my Highland cow mini sessions in Omaha, he had an idea that couldn’t have been more perfect for him.
He wanted to bring an easel into the field and paint the cow.
Obviously, the answer was YES. 🎨🐮
Creating a Highland Cow Mini Session That Felt Like Him
Instead of simply posing next to a Highland cow and smiling for the camera, we set up his easel right in the field.
There he was with his canvas, paints and brushes, completely in his element, while sweet Rusty the Highland cow became both his model and his new best buddy.
And it was absolutely beautiful.
The setting, the warm outdoor atmosphere, the Highland cow and this little artist happily painting away all came together in a way I couldn’t have planned any better.
As an Omaha photographer, these are the sessions I love the most—the ones where the photographs don’t just show me what someone looked like at a certain age. They show me who they were.
Mini Sessions Don’t Have to Feel “Mini”
One of my favorite things about offering mini photography sessions in Omaha is finding ways to make a short session still feel incredibly personal.
Your child doesn’t have to stand perfectly still and give me the “school picture smile.”
Actually… I’d rather they didn’t. 😂
Bring me the kid who loves dinosaurs. The little girl who refuses to leave the house without her princess dress. The boy who wants to paint a Highland cow in the middle of a field. Bring the cowboy boots, the favorite stuffed animal, the guitar, the soccer ball or whatever they’re completely obsessed with right now.
Those little things are what tell their story.
Because someday the things that seem so ordinary right now are going to be the things you desperately want to remember.
